First and foremost, I’m pouring one out for Bob Saget. Really. He was a national treasure and the sitcom dad I imagined myself having had I been a bit less ethnic-kid driven by tiger parents from places more famous for their babaghanouj recipes. I had the distinct pleasure of working on-set at NBC with one of his co-stars and I asked her about what he was like. “A potty-mouthed angel,” she told me. And so that’s how I’m remembering him.
But holler if you want my smoky, ethnic-as-all-hell baba recipe though. It’s good.
What I’m working on right now:
Taste of Home: All the best Valentine’s Day-specific candies you can order online. Need affiliate-friendly, and prefer somewhat affordable. Soooo… a box of chocolate truffles with 1,500 positive Amazon reviews? Yes! A single dark chocolate bar only available through a ghost that appears when you say Peloton-Peloton-Peloton three times fast? Nah. Pitch this week, and bonus points to brands good about social media shares. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Taste of Home: The greatest GLASS storage containers for every type of kitchen and meal prep. You know the drill with affiliate-friendly links (major retailers, skimlinks, etc). Need pitches this week, and yes, I’ll have to try ‘em out bc this is a first-person “lemme tell you what I think of these as the Home Editor” type of piece. bryce@theluxuryspot.com

Actually, this Valentine’s Day gifts for men piece answers to testosterone and such.
Job listings:
Have job listings you want shared? Cool. Send ‘em to me! I’ll post.
My gal pal Kelly asked me to post this one for New York area applicants. “We are hiring a Senior Creative Services Manager at GoGo squeeZ. NY-based, amazing corp culture.” Info/full listing details here. If you apply, tell ‘em I sent you via Kelly :)
Another gal pal, Melissa, is hiring a PR assistant at her beauty-focused PR firm. I’ve worked with her for years. She’s a delight and has a no-bs approach that I’ve found is universally helpful. Info on that gig here.
A few other thoughts:
Wow, lots of questions have rolled in for me to answer in the paid version of this newsletter. Happy to answer as much as I possibly can from competitors’ current affiliate rates to how-things-work type content, but need a wee bit of time to put it all together. Helpful if I sent more than one paid subscriber newsletter this week? Or just keep it to a single, albeit longer email? Feel free to drop your thoughts on that in the comments so I can best serve everyone’s needs.
Sort of an aside, but is anyone else here old enough to remember using the word “parlor” pretty frequently? Like, brb, going to eat at the pizza parlor or gotta go pick up grandma from the beauty parlor? When did we stop speaking that way? And why? Or was that a regional thing? Someone with info please dissect this for me.
Till tomorrow, friends. Wishing you a dry, warm, healthy, and sleet-free rest of your day.
Hi Bryce,
New to the affiliate band wagon! Is it okay to offer individual writers higher commissions on Skimlinks? Or, ask them what they prefer?
Thanks,
Jill
The news of Bob Saget saddened my heart. I don't think my childhood would have been the same without "Full House." He was so wonderful and will be greatly missed.
And thank you for sharing the Reader's Digest Valentine's Day Gifts for men! This will definitely help me brainstorm ideas for my husband.
P.S. I would love to share that Like Minds Communication's is hiring a Public Relations Specialist (or Strategist!): B2B & National Media. Here's the link: https://likemindstalk.com/were-hiring. Bryce, if you wouldn't mind sharing this in the hiring portion of your newsletter, I would be SO appreciative! :)
