Phew, wrote 20,000+ words this week + edited another 20,000 or so. I’m a teeny-tiny bit behind on newsletters as a result, but hey, good content and adorable puppies require loads of attention, amirite?
Also, getting back to everyone who pitched their fashion stylists and clothing brands from last week. Sorry, taking a minute to swim through!
Calls for pitches:

My puppies opened their eyes!
Moving on.
For the Affiliate Tribe members:
I had a nice time catching up with the ChicExecs gals this morning and seeing a few familiar edit-side faces. During the course of our product-driven call, it was cool to hear that the Hearst team has the same objectives and growth plan as I do, and I thought it would be cool to talk about some of that again.
I know I covered the Google best practices stuff a bit in the past, but a lot of you are new-ish here and it never hurts to have a refresher. Let’s dig in, shall we?
The way commerce/shopping content is written at the big mags is changing
You may remember this from last fall, if not, we’re going back in. For much of 2020, 2021 and 2022 the publishing industry focused on listicle-style content. You know, the 20 Best Bootcut Jeans, 14 Life-Changing Granola Bars, 10 Best Rolling Suitcases , etc.
Google’s algorithm shifted in Q3 of 2022 though, so little by little all the big edit teams had to starting shifting their courses. Not totally changing, but dramatically shifting.
