Hopping right into it today because everyone’s got full plates in the days leading up to holidays/spring break.
Working on now:
Reader’s Digest: The best car cleaning products that’ll leave your ride tidy, sparkling, and delightful to drive. Hit me with your car cleaning wipes, spritzes, foams, waxes, ice tools, etc etc. MUST be affiliate friendly, so pitch me skimlinks-ready websites or major retailers. Pitch by Thurs! bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: Last one for Wayfair for now, promise. Any of you rep pool/hot tub accessories on Wayfair? If so, hit me up today with your wayfair links <3 bryce@theluxuryspot.com
NewsBreak: Per an internal request, I need a couple more Texas-based businesses that accept popular cryptocurrencies. I don’t care if you’re a Texas-based nail salon accepting $shib or a car dealer taking $btc, but I need your info yesterday and I’ll need to grab a quote or two. Also open to independent freelancers accepting crytpo for their services, ie an Austin-based SAT tutor taking $eth payments etc. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
See above, but will have a Florida-specific version of this crypto piece coming soon as well so ask your local clients what they’re working on!
Jobs:
Cincinnati Bengals are hiring a new head of Social Media! Go team?
SheKnows is hiring a new commerce ed (5+ stories a day).
DotDash also needs a new commerce editor, food & wine focused.
Musings:
Remember I told you about Bev’s wolf? Well, I think the wolf’s family member came to my yard for a visit. Found this wild thang circling my chicken coop a few days ago. See also: Little Red Riding Hood’s grandma
My regular hair colorist has like no appointments anytime soon so I’m getting my roots done at Ulta today. Send affirmations. The good news is I also have a beauty shopping story due, so if my hair doesn’t turn out well at least my journalism will.
Had lots of questions about commerce story trend forecasting and how to best make use of the trending-on-skimlinks links I send. If you’re already part of my Affiliate Tribe, you know that seeing real-time consumer behavior helps keep your PR pitches in the moment and aligned with what commerce editors are actually looking for. Pitching a “5 stylist accessories for spring” means absolutely nothing if they’re not aligned with consumer spending habits. Use the links I provide each week as a stepping stone for either finding your angle in (ie if you notice a certain material or silhouette is trending in purchases, run with your client’s own version of that to eds) or as a form of client winning/bragging. I know several publicists who subscribe here who have found their own efforts paying off in spades when they realized their clients made the list! Consider my weekly compilations to be cheat sheets for you to get ahead of pitches for next week. And yes, all products should be pitched with a commerce spin—anything shoppable is written as such now, and that goes for EVERY major publisher.
That said, I’ll send the next list later today to our Affiliate Tribe team. Waiting for Skimlinks to populate this morning’s data so it’s all up to date IRT.
Talk soon, friends. Stay away from wolves.
Hi Bryce. Oy, a coywolf! From all the homesteading folks I follow, you might want to think about getting yourself Great Pyrenees, otherwise known as an LGD, livestock guard dog. Not only will he protect your chickens from coywolfs and other predators but the smaller dogs too!
