Yay, power is back in the Hudson Valley area and all is right with the world (or at least my lil’ slice of mountainous heaven)! Let’s get to what’s going on for the week, shall we?
Pitches needed:
Taste of Home: Best kitchen island carts from major .com retailers and skimlinks-ready retailers. Pitch me your cutest, most convenient, functional, etc kitchen island carts that people can easily buy online. Need pitches by EOD Friday so I can frame the story. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Taste of Home: Best kitchen bar stools. Same as above, but bar stools! We love Wayfair, Overstock, Amazon, and other skimlinks retailers. Must be currently available online, matching current trends, and can be shipped quickly to shoppers. Hit me by the weekend at the latest. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Family Handyman: Best indoor fireplace tools + accessories. Hit me with your pokers, specialty wood pellets for stoves, scent-makers, etc for indoor fireplaces. Must be via major .com retailer or skimlinks-ready smaller/independent retailers. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: I have an ongoing review series for bestselling items and products that have high search volume. If a top-performing brand has a new launch, I may also write launch news (like this ThirdLove piece announcing their new sports bras). But for the most part, review pieces are medium-form stories that include first-hand “I tried it” info + original pics. Upcoming features are for nifty new coffee makers, mattresses, and laundry gadgets that cut drying time in half. You get the gist, and yes, we always need a skimlinks retailer for these <3
Per usual, I love you extra and appreciate your PR prowess the most if you/your client is good about social media shares on published stories.
Some recently-published jazz:
I compared retailer perks at Target vs Walmart for Reader’s Digest. It was hard to stay impartial, but shoot, they’re both great.
Here’s how I make all eight crazy nights fun and not an absolute fortune for my 5 kiddos, for Reader’s Digest.
Easy home decor ideas + upgrades, for Family Handyman.
Jobs listing of the day:
From Jessica, “Rebel Gail, a rapidly growing communications agency with clients in beauty, health, and lifestyle, is seeking a PR Strategist/Media Pitcher to join our team and be our next Rebel. Lead and manage day to day media outreach on behalf of multiple beauty/wellness clients to online, print and broadcast.” They’re asking for a Bachelor’s or equivalent, four to six years of work-related experience, and a wealth of experience and media contacts to draw on. Full benefits and salary in the 70-90k range. Email jgoldberg@rebelgail.com
Also, addressing a few questions that came in recently:
A company owner reached out to me saying her publicist refused to subscribe to substacks (mine or others) because they “cost money.” This is free! Aly Walansky’s and other lovely writers also put out free substacks.
The affiliate pitch classes on Nov 10 and 11 are totally booked. So sorry for those who keep emailing, but they sold out in a matter of a few hours (sooner, actually, but it took me a few hours to get to all the emails). I’ll do my best to offer another session or two in December. It’s for the best because the game keeps evolving and changing. Truly, every week something new pops up in the algos.
Till next time, friends.
