Happy Monday!
As promised, every few days my story load will be updated with more holiday and general shopping guides. That means I have oodles of content waiting for you.
Important aside: If you’re pitching heavy competition items (like shampoo for example) it ALWAYS helps to throw something helpful in your pitch something like “the client LOVES positive press and is eager to offer social shares on published pieces.” When two shampoos are both great for my readers and are offered at about the same price, your client’s willingness to share on social could be just enough to inch your shampoo over the finish line. Obviously, I run with what I think serves the readers best, but if the differences are difficult to distinguish— a pleasant brand is always the winner. Like everything else in life, gestures of appreciation and support can mean all the difference.
Okay, also, a few more jobs in this blast because over 400 of you clicked on the Louis Vuitton PR Assistant gig in my last email so obvi the jobs are a hot commodity. If one of you gets that job, please send me a hand-written note on LV stationery with a “hey girl, it’s me writing you a note on LV stationery.”
Stories on my plate I need pitches for:
Readers’ Digest: Finishing my best gifts for boys story this week and have a few more spots for truly great finds, bestsellers, and hot items for grade school-age boys. A few items for toddlers and teens will also be included, but think ages 6 to 13ish for the most part. Need affiliate retailers, so Walmart, Target, Nordstrom, and any skimlinks-ready site. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Readers’ Digest: Best Gifts for Your Girlfriend! Let’s steer clear of holiday-specific items with this one and go more evergreen (even though honestly, it’ll be a major holiday season story with syndication to a variety of top outlets). Pitch items that are mostly $250 or less (affordable is always a hit), available via major retailer or Amazon or skimlinks-smaller retailer, and are obviously appropriate to give your girlfriend. Please, nothing that suggests she should feel insecure (no, acne treatments are not appropriate girlfriend gifts). A handful of splurge items will be included, so don’t feel shy about pitching, but know that I’m aiming to target real budgets and the average American shopper with this piece. Have about a week to frame this one. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Family Handyman: Last call for great Target.com decor finds! Finishing this one ASAP and it should be live in a matter of days. If your client sells things like pillows, rugs, end tables, lamps, frames, etc at Tar-jay send me a pitch! bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Jobs, glorious jobs
Talent Resources PR Account Executive: The PR team at Talent Resources is looking to bring on a PR Account Executive with 3-5 years of experience for their consumer goods clients. The position is remote and if interested in learning more please reach out directly to Cara at Cara.Zizzo@talentresources.com. (This is a copy/paste from Cara’s email to me, and I can confirm on my end she’s easy peasy to work with!)
Scholastic is hiring editorial staff. Less sexy than Louis Vuitton, but you’d be keeping children literate. That’s as righteous as can be. Goodnight, Moon.
E.J. Gallo Wines is looking for an in-house publicist. Pitch, drink, be merry.
Okay, that’s enough of that. I built my sukkah yesterday and will be signed off for the start of the holiday (sundown tonight). My time off is temporary though and not for the entire holiday. I’ll get back to all my emails as quickly as possible, but if there’s a delay know that it’s because I’m in an ancient little hut eating loads of spinach bourekas. As one does.
