Did you have a long, relaxing weekend? I hope so! And I hope you got a lot out of the tidbits in last week’s final newsletter of the summer. I’m going to make this one a combined newsletter again to spare everyone’s inboxes. SHEEEEEESH, so much to share today!
What I’m working on now/need pitches:
Reader’s Digest: Still collecting unique gifts for our gifts-for-those-who-have-everything guide. Ideally under $250, MUST be on a Skimlinks-ready retailer or major .com. Hit me by Monday when I plan to close this one out. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Family Handyman: Who is doing PR for Chemical Guys now? My old contact isn’t responsive and I have a feature I-Tried-It story planned for one of the products! Thanks <3 bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: Best hostess gifts—you know the deal with affiliates! Our sweet spot for pricing on this guide is under $100, but a few splurges will be included. I have enough candle pitches for a lifetime, but I’m open to creative + super cool planters and gardening things, gorgeous kitchen accessories, coffee and tea items, wine accessories that someone can pair with a bottle of local wine and other fun gear that makes being a host easy-peasy. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: Here’s a fun new one! The best gifts for your neighbor (picture me typing this in a very PBS cardigan). Have a little longer to get this one in, so I’ll be sourcing for the next week-ish, but I think under $75 is probably best practice here. Most of us don’t offer bars of gold to the lady next door, but we love to drop off flowers, pies, scented hand soap sets, cookie platters, tea pots etc. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
NOT YET! But by next week, I’ll be sourcing gifts for couples, gifts for men, women, kids, etc. Literally every type of human able to receive a gift is getting a guide this year. Merry errthang.

Musings:
Lots of emails still coming in about the CAPS! Anyone else either coming into NYC or already there planning to attend the awards? If so, let’s hang <3 I’ll be there for a couple of hours representing the TMB family.
LORDT! Google’s latest updates are about to change the way lots of content is written. Writing in third person is all but a thing of the past, and I’ll touch on that below… but get ready for a major voice shift across the large publishers.
Not content-related, just for my own personal life. Anyone have a dishwasher they totally love/never have a problem with? I bought one like 4 years ago that totally crapped out this week (boo). Would love to hear your personal suggestions as I sift through 1,000,000 listings online rn. And they all sorta look the same, right? I just want one that holds the dishes of 82,928,452 children and doesn’t leak/break. Send me links to what you love/bought recently!

As promised, plenty o’thoughts for you today in one email. Bc streamlining, right? Let’s start with some of the Google updates, shall we?
Google is now switching up what it prioritizes
This is an awesome growth opportunity for brands to generate their own “how-to” content surrounding their own products, because Google is now saying it’ll actively reward robust first-person content that gives the reader/user an educational experience. “Here’s how I” and “I tried this” and “My Secret Hack” type content is about to explode far beyond where it’s been.
This is crossing over into big publisher territory, too—especially on the commerce team end. You’ll see less of “10 gifts for spouses” and more of “we tested the 10 best ____ to give your spouse.” You’ll also see way more reformatting of existing content, and simply put, if an editor hasn’t tested it… it genuinely may get axed for 2023.
