Like most magazine and digital writers, I’ve relied heavily on a combination of people, factors, and places to get my queries out. Obviously, that’s one of the reasons I created these newsletters and Sharing Opps, but I’ve also used HARO for years with mixed results. Today drove home the importance of not relying on HARO/cision though, because I found out I was being served OLD (really, over a year old) responses to my current queries.
What’s worse? I was upset with the PR folks + companies sending these seemingly current pitches. UGH, I’M SORRY!
HARO obviously has a broad user base and a proven track record overall. I’m not insulting them or HARO in general, because I think we can all point to oodles of positive experiences using these services— but today, sigh. At least it was a good reminder of why branching out a wee bit and making sure our connections stay human and personal. So anyway, I’m happy to be here and connected through Substack, Facebook, Twitter, etc in addition to the more traditional press-meets-PR avenues.
For todays’ queries:
Eat This Not That: Aly Walansky’s query is as follows, “I'm doing a story on the #1 Cause of Memory Loss. I'd love experts to weigh in on causes of memory loss, what they think is the biggest cause and why, what we can do about it, and any research/studies that they can link back to would be fab. Would love by EOD today by email if possible.” alywalansky@gmail.com
Aedit.com: From Elise Tabin is calling for pitches on rambutan. “I’m looking for products that contain rambutan, a natural retinol alternative. Please email me.” elise@elisetabin.com
