Okay, so, first of all I want to say hello to the oodles of new faces around here. THANK YOU AND WELCOME! If we’re not already friends, let’s be.
So, before I hop right into all the work things I want to tell you about yesterday. Part of my role as Aff. Home Ed across all these TMB mags is obviously to know what is useful, trending, popular, etc at Home Depot. Now, sometimes I just lurk at the one near my house trying to get a feel for what shoppers are into. I’ve developed full-on relationships with the dudes at the paint desk. And Tony by the tiles? He’s come over for BBQs at my house and he and my husband even shared an emotional day when they both found out they finally got American passports (Tony also helped us paint our house red, white, and blue but that’s another story).
Anyway—yesterday I was creeping around the paint desk looking at the 900 shades of beige that are currently trending when it hit me: there was music playing. I had never heard Home Depot play music before yesterday, actually. Or maybe I just never noticed. But the point is this: a Home Depot 90s and early 2000s music playlist hit differently in a pandemic. I was full-on dancing next to the Behr and others were joining in. I’m telling you: MARIAH! Green Day! Vintage Destiny’s Child! Sooooo…. if you need a minute for self-care, go to Home Depot and just dance with the strangers. Live your best life.
What I’m working on now:
Family Handyman: Relatively tight turnaround, I need a derm to talk about cracked/dry hands that come from working outside, with tools, etc. (will send specific questions), and I also need to find the PR contact for O’Keeffe’s creams. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: Okay, hit me with your best Pres Day weekend sales on the following verticals now—bestselling beauty (think major brands and thousands of positive reviews), car and automotive, sporting/outdoor activity gear. bryce@theluxuryspot.com

Jobs:
My gal pal Lindsay is hiring a Public Relations Coordinator. The company is Las Vegas, Nevada-based, but Lindsay says remote work is A-okay! Details here. She’s a gem and has more 90 Day Fiance scoop than you’d ever dream of knowing.
Another pal, Isaac, is hiring a paid intern for Tangle News. Feel free to pass the word around.
Amazon is hiring a PR manager for Alexa AI.
Other thoughts:
This morning’s affiliate/paid subscriber email was partially devoted to why Walmart links are such a hit with readers. If that interests you, check it out.
Also, doing my best to keep our paid newsletter group tight-knit — it works better if we have an intimate group and everyone gets a chance to ask questions and expect them answered in a reasonable timeframe. It’s also incredibly valuable information, and it stays valuable when it’s somewhat reserved and you get a headstart. We’re well over 100 subscribers on that newsletter now and it’s growing faster than I expected, so I’m going to raise the subscription rates from the current $49.95/year to a modestly higher rate in early February to keep it tight/small. If you’d like to get this lower rate, please do so before next week. If not, no worries, this free newsletter is issued almost daily and offers oodles of gems totally free.
Send more job listings! Ready to share! Again, I never charge for posting a job (and jobs go out to the pretty massive list of free subscribers!) and only ask that you’ll pass on an act of kindness.
Leaving this lil’ internet nugget for you as a parting gift:
That’s it for now. Till tomorrow, friends. <3
