Hopping right into it today because I have loads of stories on my plate and need to get ‘em out in record time.
Also this made me snort-laugh.
What I’m working on now/need pitches for:
Need PR contacts for Rag & Bone + Necklet. I have feature stories planned for both brands on RD.com. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: Working on a roundup of the coolest things you can buy on Amazon right now (specifically viral bestsellers). So, normally I want 500+ ratings, but this story is about irresistible bestsellers… so think more like 1,000 ratings and up and genuinely weirdly wonderful (like a pasta timer that turns to a smiley face when your penne is done or a scalp scrubber that infuses your strands with vitamin serum). bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: Best bed bug covers for mattresses. Must be well-rated, from a Skimlinks-ready retailer or major .com (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Lowe’s, etc). And yes, must protect against bed bugs. bryce@theluxuryspot.com
Reader’s Digest: Need a few more micellar water products that sell on Amazon with at least 500+ ratings and are under $25. I know that’s a very specific list, but probably great for drugstore-ish brands. Pitch meeeee! bryce@theluxuryspot.com

Just a friendly reminder that if you see yourself/your client mentioned in one of my stories, I super-duper-mega-ultra love social media shares of all kinds and styles on the piece. Tags are jazzy, too. I’ll get to all that in a minute.
You’ll want these stylish work bags for women—they fit laptops and all your stuff without looking clunky.
This ultra-cheap concealer has over 116K Amazon reviews and counting. It’s easy to use, effective—and yes, I tried it.
Love baubles but hate cleaning? You need this jewelry cleaning stick. It’s SO fast + fits in your bag.
This is the Amazon Valentine’s Day gifts piece y’all have contributed to. Still adding to it if you want to send pitches. Again, it’s a community effort and mostly to support YOU and your work, so I just ask that your client(s) be good about social shares <3
I tried a stone bath mat. It’s a game-changer (also I bought the tub in the picture at an estate sale and reglazed it myself, so I’m pretty proud of that).
Jobs:
Lewis needs a managing director of PR. NY/hybrid, salary about $150k.
Harry’s needs a senior PR manager. NY preferred, salary about $140k.
Parade needs a social media manager. In-office 2x a week.
Factory PR needs LA-based VIP PR help. Work celebs, give them things and get life-changing selfies. You know the drill.
U.S. News & World Report needs a new senior editor. Remote, work from anywhere.
Oprah Daily needs a new fashion commerce editor. You’d be on-site on 57th/8th, so plan for that.
Musings:
A while back, I mentioned that the publishing industry would be moving aggressively in the direction of first-person reviews. As you can see, I’m already there and getting knee-deep in stone bath mats, skin perfecting products and other goodies. If you have a top-rated product you’re itching for me to try (especially if there’s high search demand), I’m all ears! Some things I think’ll be hits for early spring ‘23: comfy work pants, bestselling spring jackets, retinol-focused beauty, sleep supplements WITHOUT melatonin, etc. I’ll put out calls for specific requests, but the point is this: if you have a runaway hit product on an affiliate-ready site and you think it could benefit from a feature review, let’s talk.
Lychees. I’m not personally working on any lychee-specific stories right now, but I thought I’d do you a solid and give this tidbit away for free. Normally internet trends are reserved for my paid newsletter, but this one is a low-hanging fruit (see what I did there?) that loads of you can benefit from right now. Everything from lychee-infused recipes to lychee-extract beauty is blowing up on search right now. This is your moment to get those pitches out. Search volume is up 66% across categories. Do. Not. Delay.
More state-based warnings and prohibitions against TikTok rolled out this week/last. It’s not just red states—New Jersey, as blue as can be—is now fully on board. I issued a warning several months ago to my paid subs to reign in TikTok spending and not to put all their eggs in any one social media basket. I’m reiterating that now. It’s good while it’s good, but it looks like the party is going to end to *some* degree in the next several months. I’ll go deeper into that in a few days.
For the next issue of Extra Good, I’d love to highlight super easy/fun/incredibly share-worthy vegetarian or vegan recipes. This’ll be a newsletter inclusion (so many subs now! Yay!). Can come from a chef or popular resto, but would need a great image to go along with it.
Finally, new year new subscribers here so I’ll talk about social media shares again (I always do, and always will). If you’re new here, welcome! I’m happy to have you and excited to be new friends :) …If you end up in a story I write (or anyone else’s, frankly), it’s important to direct social media shares to the piece if you think it was positive for the brand. They can come from the brand (preferred), the agency (still nice) or even you directly—any/all combo is great. These signal appreciation to the writer, but also trip up the algorithms to promote the piece as hot content. If your client is in a piece that is “hot content” everybody wins. The writer is in good shape. The publication is happy. Your client is in front of more eyeballs. You look like a hero. You get the point. Anyway, sharing is endlessly wonderful.
That’s it for now, friends. More soon!
I just went through a rabbit hole of Google searching because I never knew stone bath mats existed! I am going to request from the universe some more colorful/pretty patterned options before adding to my own bathroom though!!!
I use that concealer and it really does a great job, and for SO much less.
Lychee...have you ever had a lychee martini? Makes Happy Hour seem healthy!
