If you’re in New York, you know last Thursday night there was a big ice storm. Well, your country chicken farmer friend (ahem, me) was apparently in the eye of the storm. Woodstock and the entire surrounding Hudson Valley area was basically the epicenter of trees-gone-flyin’ and downed power lines. We lost power, heat, and running water for a few days in 4F weather FOR DAYS and that was the closest to camping I really ever care to be ever again.
If there’s one thing I know, it’s that the generations before me sought out a life in America for reliable indoor plumbing and whatnot. Things are fully restored now because they sent in reservists and Canadians and brought in the utility teams from all sorts of other states (also omg going to pour maple syrup on everything forever because the Canadians SAVED us!). I’m feeling super, ultra, mega wildly blessed because we are all totally healthy and safe and my house is relatively unscathed. But really, I can’t stress it enough: camping is bullsh*t. Don’t let anyone trick you into that. Definitely don’t pay for it. And honestly, I’m auto-deleting any glamping pitches for at least a few months until I shake this memory off.
Moving onto work.

Jobs:
These are all from Crowe PR, and there are a lot of ‘em, so I think it’s enough for today before I move to editorial + freelance PR gigs in tomorrow’s newsletter.
Other semi-deep thoughts:
Don’t worry, you’re getting a bonus affiliate newsletter this week. Just catching up now!
Remember when you gave me cornbread suggestions? I’m hustling on those today. Ordered a bunch. Have my muffin tins ready. Will report back on that tomorrow.
A lot of the area is still without power and schools are still closed because they have no utilities, so forgive me if I am delayed in replying to emails or get ‘em out at like 9 pm after my kids are asleep.
I have electricity and running water and heat, so there’s literally nothing you can do to ruin my mood today.
K, that’s it for now! Back to writing. See you tomorrow for a double dose of newsletter action.
Yikes! Glad you guys are ok!
